I am someone who early in life seemed to listen to most of my music from the radio. In the late 1970’s and 1980’s you could not turn on the radio in America without hearing a Hall and Oates Song.
Their list of #1 Billboard hits included: She’s Gone,
Rich Girl, Kiss is on My Lips, and Private Eyes just to mention four of their eleven #1 Billboard hits.
Daryl Hall wrote or co-wrote all of those eleven hits.
This post is actually about the word START. Daryl Hall the musician listened to his inner voice and did something pretty clever. I first heard about him over the 2013 Christmas Holidays when one of my friends told me about a show I might like featuring Daryl Hall. That show was on a Cable Channel in our area; the Palladia Channel. It appears that Daryl Hall had an epiphany in 2008 at the age of 62. He decided to START something new and that was a TV show from his house. He decided that he would invite famous musicians to jam, cook, and talk about their careers. To date he has done 64 of these shows and I got to see #63 which featured Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top. The guests are backed by some pretty good musicians and play some of their music along with Daryl Hall songs. I was totally entertained for 60 minutes last night.
Darryl’s quote about starting the show was:
“For me it was sort of an obvious thing. I’ve been touring my whole adult life really, and, you know, you can’t be EVERYWHERE! Nor do I WANT to be everywhere at this point! I only like to spend so much time per year on the road. So I thought ‘Why don’t I just do something where anyone who wants to see me anywhere in the world CAN
