The Goal versus your Role
This past Friday I had the great privilege to witness the graduation ceremony of the 133rd class of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in Cary, NC. The State Patrol graduated their first class in 1929. The class started out with 22 cadets and only 14 of them graduated. The ceremony was filled with some […]
Feb 19-Bass Pale Ale
The William Bass Brewing company claims that their beer Pale Ale is the world’s first. The marketing is not reality since the beer is part of the InBev family of beers. Never the less still a good pale ale but not my favorite. 5% alcohol. http://www.bass.com
Feb 18-Steamhead
Went back to a North Carolina brewing company for today’s choice -Aviator which is located in Fuquay-Varina, NC which is located south of Raleigh. The beer I had was Steamhead and I had it on draft in a pizza/sports bar located next to Millstone 14 Cinema in Hope Mills, NC. It has a nice floral aroma […]
Feb 17-Oarsman Ale
Oarsman Ale is brewed by Bell’s Brewing Company out of Comstock, Michigan. I will give the beer kudos it is very unique. That quality comes from it’s tart lemony taste. I don’t particularly like it but it is a beer that I don’t think you can just drink and forget. 4.0 % is the alcohol content. […]
February 16-Denver Pale Ale
Denver Pale Ale is beer brewed by Great Divide Brewing Company located in Denver, CO, I really like this beer has a little bitter taste but not overpowering. The interesting part with Denver Pale Ale is that it smells slightly fruity but that taste does not come thru on your palette.Alcohol content is 5.4% and […]
February 15-Lagunitas Sucks
Yesterday while I was at Triangle Wine in Southern Pines, NC I picked up a bunch of single beers including Lagunitas Sucks. This beer has a stout alcohol count of 7.85% and is rated as excellent by lots of beer websites. Beer Advocate actually calls Lagunitas Sucks as “World Class”. Lagunitas Brewing is located in Petaluma, […]
February 14-St. Terese’s Pale Ale
I have a store in Southern Pines, NC that I like to visit at least once a month called Triangle Wine. My wife calls it my toy store. Went up to So. Pines after work and purchased a 1/6 keg of a beer from Highland Brewery in Asheville, NC called Saint Terese’s Pale Ale. The […]
February 13-Red Hook Longhammer IPA
Went out to dinner with some college athletic administrators and was surprised that the establishment had Red Hook Long Hammer IPA. Very solid IPA and is one of America’s best selling IPA’s. 6.2% alcohol with a great hoppy flavor. Red Hook is a Washington State brewery with a location in New Hampshire also http://www.redhook.com
February 12-Michelob Ultra
We had snow storm today and a group of 25 friends decided to go to a local wing place that has .99 draft beer and .49 wings on Wednesday’s. The name of the place is Arnold’s Restaurant and is located right off I-95 Exit 20 in North Carolina in Lumberton, NC. The beer selections were not […]
Adapting to the unexpected
I live in Southeastern NC. The sight of one snowflake causes emotions to rise and bread, milk, and beer to disappear off the grcery shelves in a short period of time. Well it is Thursday Feburary 13, 2014 and Winter Storm Pax (named given by the Weather Channel) has interupted my normal routines. We have seen […]
