In my travels I was able to grab a few beers that I normally do not see in my part of North Carolina. I stumbled across a brewery called Catawba Valley Brewing Company out of Morganton, NC while in Asheville NC. Catawba Valley began in 1999 and entered the craft beer business in Asheville way before the craze began. Their first beer was Red Ale but my beer of the day is Firewater IPA, a pretty solid North Carolina Beer. They moved to Morganton, NC in 2007.
I saw Firewater available on tap at Barley’s Taproom in Asheville, NC. This is a very drinkable IPA and contains 5.6% ABV. If you can find it give it a try.
Nice colour and great clarity!
