October 30-Pumking

The entire month of October I have been saving a prized beer my neighbor Kenny Biggs brought me. The New York beer I have been hoarding is from Southern Tier Brewing Company out of Lakewood NY and is called Pumking. This spice beer is about close to Pumpkin Pie as I think you can get. […]

October 29th-Brown-Dedicated to the Cape Fear HS Men’s Soccer Team

One of my sons is in his first year coaching HS soccer at the 4A level in North Carolina. He is the Head Boys & Girls Soccer Coach at Cape Fear HS in Fayetteville, NC. Tonight my wife I went to his 1st Round NCHSAA Boys State Play-Off Game against the Clayton HS Comets. Cape […]

October 28-Eye of the Hawk

Going with a strong ale tonight from Mendocino Brewing which is actually owned by United Breweries Group. United is the largest brewery in India and almost 50% of all beers sold in India come from United Breweries. My beer is Eye of the Hawk and contains 8.0% ABV. Mendocino is brewed in Saratoga Springs NY. […]

This Russian Imperial Stout is heavy and contains 10.5 %ABV. ┬áSimply put this beer is excellent. Has big roasted malt flavor and is smooth in spite of IBU 98. Add this to your beer bucket list. Special […]

Sierra Nevada has come to North Carolina by opening a brewery in Mills River, NC just outside Asheville, NC. Today I grabbed this NC beer from Sierra Nevada called Oktoberfest. This Marzen contains 5.4% ABV and it is a little richer in color than other Ocktoberfest beers I have had this month. Very good beer […]

On my way to the UNC Pembroke Homecoming Football Game and before the tailgating grabbed a California Beer from Anderson Valley Brewing Company called Keebarlin Pale Ale. AVBC is located in Boonville, CA. This beer is low in ABV at 4.2% but has a great dry hoppy taste. Very solid beer from another brewer I […]

October 24-Swing Session Saison

Pennsylvania Beer tonight from Victory Brewing out of Dowingtown, PA called Swing Session Saison. It checks in at 4.5% ABV. For a beer low in alcohol this beer has surprisingly complex flavors. I would rate this beer good. Victory continues to impress me with their beer line-up. http://www.victorybeer.com

October 23-Hop Ottin IPA

Grabbed a California Beer tonight from Anderson Valley Brewery called Hop Ottin IPA. Anderson Valley is located in Boonville, CA and is a solar powered brewery. This beer is excellent and I would tell anyone that is a fan of IPA to drink this beer. Rate Beer and Beer Advocate give it excellent reviews. Hop […]

October 22-Jack Whacker Wheat

Another first time brewer for me tonight with Tommyknocker Brewery out of Idaho Springs, CO. The beer I choose is called Jack Whacker Wheat which is a wheat ale that contains 4.7% ABV. Wheat beers are not my favorite and I would rate this one fair at best. http://www.tommyknocker.com
