Tonight I got a great treat. I got to attend a social function at the university I work at. The event was a beer tasting from Rail House Brewing. Rail House is a North Carolina company out of Aberdeen, NC. Our tour guide was one of the owners Mike Ratkowski and he couldn’t have been nicer or more knowledgeable about the beer brewing process. He even agreed to take a photo with me.
I got to taste three different Rail House beers but I want to review Ka-Bar Brown Ale. Mike said that this beer is actually brewed with about 100lbs of brown sugar. This beer was smooth and roasted. Even though the beer was served in plastic glasses had a decent lacing. Would rate this brown ale very good. Ka-Bar has 5.8% ABV and IBU of 30.
Rail House Brewery is owned by veterans and if you are in the Sandhills of North Carolina go by and check them out. Open 7 days a week. We gave Rail House Brewing a UNC Pembroke banner to hang in the pub. GO BRAVES!
