Sitting outside on my patio on an early Carolina December evening enjoying some 50 degree temperatures. The weather doesn’t warrant it but I’m having a beer from Maine tonight. The beer is from a brewer I had earlier in 2014. The brewer is D.L Geary’s Brewing Company out of Portland, Maine. The beer is named London Porter.
The Geary Brewing Company was incorporated in 1983 when the US only had 13 microbreweries almost all of them out west. Part of Geary’s success story is perseverance because they did not sell their first pint until December 1986. The owners researched England brewing methods and worked on getting their business plan just right before pouring a pint for customers.
The beer is fair to good. It has a light taste for a porter and only has 4.2 % ABV. Last night’s porter from Palmetto was better.
