A friend of a friend-Laura Lynn Stone Bailey-Joe Bailey-June 17

One thing I have learned is that good friends have other good friends. This is a series of stories about “friends of my friends”. The post below is the story for June 17, 2015. My goal in 2015 is to learn or get re-acquainted with 365 people and doing a daily post on the “the friend of a friend” is helping me get closer to my goal. My family and friends know that I love to take pictures. I suffered the loss of two cameras over the past twelve months and have come to rely on my IPhone for pictures. I love the story that pictures and even video can tell. There comes a time when the photos all by themselves can tell a great story. If you have lived in Lumberton for the last ten years and have had school aged children especially those that have participated in recreational or high school sports you know who Joe Bailey is. The reason you know him is that he is a part-time photographer that has taken pictures of 1,000’s upon 1,000’s of pictures in our community. His website is below: http://joebaileyphoto.com/ Joe full-time job is being an engineer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He turned into being a part-time photographer because he is the father to three sons who loved to play sports, so he developed a hobby close to the ball field. Besides sports, Joe will shoot a wide variety of subjects, including portraits, events, team, dance and weddings. Joe is much more than just a part-time photographer and engineer. He is a dad who along with his wife Laura Stone Bailey has raised three fine sons. Their three sons Michael, Thomas, and Walt all are outstanding young men. Last Friday Thomas Bailey graduated from Lumberton High School as valedictorian for the class of 2015. He will attend North Carolina State University in the fall as a Park Scholar and honors student and will work towards earning a degree, and eventually a doctorate, in Physics. Bailey is an Eagle Scout from Troop 301 and an N.C. Governor’s school alumnus. Thomas, who earned 12 varsity letters, is a member of the National Honor Society, Young Republicans Club and the Ultimate Frisbee Club. In his free time, Bailey enjoys playing music with his church youth band. Joe Bailey is from Wilson, NC and graduated from Hunt High School. He attended NC State and is a graduate that wears his allegiance colors on his sleeve, jackets, hats, and truck. He received a civil engineering degree from NC State and is important leader serving as a division engineer in the state. Joe wife Laura Lynn Stone Bailey grew up on a farm in Rowland, NC. I have mentioned in previous posts but the little town of Rowland, NC has produced its share of leaders including Joe’s best friend Laura Lynn. Rowland, NC sits on the NC/SC line not too far off I-95 and within viewing distance of South of the Border. Today Laura Lynn in addition to being a mom and wife is Certified Public Accountant. Her brother Bo Stone is still a farmer and what a farmer he is.

Bo is also a good samaritian. Several years ago I got a flat tire on Ashpole Church Rd. outside of Rowland, NC and he came to my rescue.

The farm that Laura grew up on today includes over  2,000 acres of land. Some of the major crops last year on that farm include corn, wheat, soybeans, and strawberries. In addition to crops the farm has hogs producing about 10,000 head per year from six houses. The farm also has a beef herd of 70 cows. In 2010 Laura brother was selected NC Farmer of the Year. Her father Tommy Stone and her grandfather Lyndell Stone both farmed the land that Laura grew up on. That farm today is often a destination for school age children. Photo below depicts part of the  Stone Family on the farm in Rowland, NC. Laura’s brother Bo is seen on far left. Stone Family Joe Bailey may take great pictures but if you know the Bailey family then you know they are comprised and made up of some great subject matter. A big part of the credit for that quality goes to Laura Lynn. You may not see Laura’s name in the photo credits but trust me her fingerprints are all over every Bailey Family picture. Great family and glad they are part of our community.
