One thing I have learned is that good friends have other good friends. This is a series of stories about “friends of my friends”. The post below is the story for September 3, 2015.
My goal in 2015 is to learn or get re-acquainted with 365 people and doing a daily post on the “the friend of a friend” is helping me get closer to my goal.
Tomorrow my family will bury my sister Bridget Kenney Murphy age 60 in Morristown, NJ. Her photo is below.
This has been a hard week for everyone that knew her but especially for her husband Vinny Murphy and two daughters. Watching and hearing from afar how my sister battled Multiple Myeloma epitomized her persona. She did it with dignity, without complaint, and for as long as she could she remained concerned for others.
My sister’s oldest daughter is Deirdre Murphy who we all call “Dee”. My sister was very proud of Dee. She loved that she had a career that let her focus on her love of animals. Dee is the Assistant Curator of Fish at Audubon Aquarium of America in New Orleans, LA.
Christina Murphy is the youngest daughter and is still working on an additional college degree. She has lived in Chicago, Connecticut, Florida, and New Orleans. She has her mother’s love of travel and compassion for others.

Prayer for Two Special Daughters
God sent an angel to this earth,
I called you Mother who raised me from birth
You listened to me through laughter and tears,
and were there for me for so many years
Now what can I say?
For God has taken my angel away
The most giving woman I’ve ever known,
but now our Lord has called you home
A life eternal in His loving care,
by His grace one day I’ll see you there
Goodbye for now, Mom, until we meet again;
My angel, my mother, and my best friend.
