A friend of a friend-Christine Young-Stephanie Crandon-September 26

One thing I have learned is that good friends have other good friends. This is a series of stories about “friends of my friends”. The post below is the story for September 26, 2015.

My goal in 2015 is to learn or get re-acquainted with 365 people and doing a daily post on the “the friend of a friend” is helping me get closer to my goal.

Today is a special day for Stephanie Crandon as she gets married to her “little darling” Dr. Steven Bourquin. The ceremony will take place at Myrtle Beach, SC amongst family and close friends. It is a very happy and special day for her.

Stephanie is from England but she considers Myrtle Beach, SC home today. She studied nursing in England and works and works at Strand Orthopedic in Myrtle Beach.

Stephanie has had to adjust to some of her new husband Steven’s quirks especially football. When you are from Ohio like Steven Bourquin is you develop some unique passions. Football is one of the Buckeye State’s strongest passions. Ohio specifically Louisville HS is also where Steven formed a bond with Rick Crislip who was his high school football coach. Coach Crislip and his wife will be part of Stephanie and Steven’s special day on Saturday.

Back in March I did a post on Steven and Coach Crislip.

Stephanie will have special people in attendance also including her sister Frances and a ton of friends from Myrtle Beach including Christine “Chrissy” Young. There will also be a small contingent from Lumberton, NC including their minister Dr. Eric Dent.

It is really hard to describe how special Stephanie is in a post. She is without a doubt one of the most caring and loving people you will ever find. She also is very fun-loving. Those two qualities make her a perfect soul mate for her new husband. I hope the pictures below do justice to one special lady who I now have to refer to as Stephanie Bourquin.

Christine Young is an important part of Stephanie Crandon Bourquin life. She is a friend that crosses the line to almost being a sister. Christine like Stephanine works at Strand Orthopedics and they two of them really do spend lot’s of time together.

Christine also found 2015 a good time to get married. She and her retired college basketball official husband Dennis Ashcraft got married on July 18, 2015. Dennis called his last college basketball games in 2014. They got married in the Myrtle Beach SC backyard of some mutual friends of both Christine and Stephanie – David and Adrienne Greer Ruffner. They call their backyard St. Ruff’s Caribbean Paradise Resort.

Close to 200 people were in attendance and from what I could tell and a great time was had by all. Once Christine’s wedding ceremony was completed, recording artist, Steve Bassett took to the New Band Stage and serenaded the crowd with his own style of Music. For the Grand Finale, a reunion of sorts occurred between Elvis amd Rufus. These two very talented entertainers wooed the crowd with some of the songs that Elvis made so famous.

The role of Elvis complete with red jumpsuit was handled by Christine’s new husband-Dennis Ashcraft. If he was still a ref I think he would have been assessed a technical foul.

I have only been around Dennis and Christine a few times but each occasion it is marked by fun, good music, and sharing basketball stories. Dennis has quite a music collection and I don’t think he can be stumped on a song or artist including Elvis.

As Stephanie exchanges her vows today I know there will be lots of people happy for her maybe none more so than Christine Young.

I am pretty sure that Steven Bourquin is not going to do any Elvis impressions after his wedding to Stephanie Crandon-Thank You -Thank You very much!
