One thing I have learned is that good friends have other good friends. This is a series of stories about “friends of my friends”. The post below is the story for November 23, 2015.
My goal in 2015 is to learn or get re-acquainted with 365 people and doing a daily post on the “the friend of a friend” is helping me get closer to my goal.
On Saturday I got to see a lot of folks sitting and mingling in my front yard during the annual Lumberton’s Christmas Parade. The parade is sponsored by the Lumberton Area Chamber of Commerce. Each year that we have lived in our Elm Street home we have hosted the party with our next door neighbors Ron and Colleen Brown.
We had lots of fun with drinks, sweets, chicken and rice, coffee, and hot chocolate. We even had a 50/50 raffle on having the correct number of tiaras that would be seen in the parade.
For the record the number was 30 and the winner was Danny Britt. Shown below with his son Carter.
I also got to see a number of people from our church First Presbyterian in Lumberton including Bob Currie. Bob was taking in all in situated perfectly in chair right on the curb.
Bob has been battling a serious health issue and it was great to see him be part of a fantastic event in our community. He and his family have done a lot for our town as individuals and as business owners. His son Kevin today runs the business they created called Currie Chain Saw. Don’t let the business name fool you-Currie Chain Saw has been a full service family owned motorcycle and power equipment dealer serving the greater Lumberton and Robeson County area for over 40 years.
Bob was taking in the outdoors on Saturday at the Lumberton Christmas Parade but on September 26, 2015 his grandson Dalton was also outside doing something pretty special.

Back in September Jeff Burleson wrote a great piece about Bob Currie grandson Dalton Currie while he was participating in Youth Hunting Day in North Carolina. I encourage you to go the link below and read the story.
The essence of the story was that Dalton shot and killed what might be a record setting kill. The story gives all the details. Dalton’s dad is Kevin Currie and he has passed on a love of the outdoors to his son Dalton.
When I look at the picture below it makes me smile. Glad Bob Currie was in my front yard on Saturday morning.
