One thing I have learned is that good friends have other good friends. This is a series of stories about “friends of my friends”. The post below is the story for November 26, 2015.
My goal in 2015 is to learn or get re-acquainted with 365 people and doing a daily post on the “the friend of a friend” is helping me get closer to my goal.
Thanksgiving is a special time of the year and it means the holiday season is in full swing. At our home that means getting the house ready for a number of family and social gatherings we will hold in our home. Today also marks a tradition for a number of families in Lumberton, NC and the surrounding area. It is the day people go pick out a Christmas tree.

For our family since 1998 we have been doing it at one special place called Santa’s Forest. Santa’s Forest is actually GreenState Landscaping and Nursery located on Carthage Road in Lumberton, NC.
GreenState Landscaping has been serving southeastern North Carolina for over 25 years. They are a locally owned, family-run business that specializes in outdoor design and landscaping, and we have a combined 55 years of experience in the industry. They do sell Christmas Trees, Wreaths, and Garland during the holidays and that is where our family gets all of those items.
GreenState is owned by a brother and sister named Keith Taylor and Myra Norton. Whether he knows it or not Keith Taylor, Myra Norton, her husband Billy, and Keith son Troy are part of our family Christmas Tradition. We have high ceilings in our home and we also go to Santa’s Forest to pick out a tree that hovers around 11 feet tall. Keith always has a special tree ready for my wife Mira to select.

If that wasn’t enough Keith delivers and set up the monster evergreen each year. He also built me a fool proof tree stand that does not let the tree tip over. That has occurred in past years but not with my GreenState custom stand.

Keith like me is an East Carolina University graduate and is proud of his wife Amby and two boys Troy and Travis. Keith sister Myra is also excellent at customer service.

The Queen of Outdoor Space
If you are looking to transform a part of your outdoor space into something special then Myra Norton is the Queen of Designing you something special.
We gave her the task of taking part of our backyard and putting a patio and fire pit. It has been very well received by our friends but more importantly enjoyed by my family.
