North Carolina-Movies Filmed in NC-March 25

North Carolina People, Places, and Things-March 25

I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.

In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special.

I didn’t realize that North Carolina is home to over 800 feature films being shot in the Tar Heel state. With over 800 the list would be lengthy. I have listed films I didn’t know where filmed in NC.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games was filmed in Black Mountain and Charlotte. You can thank the Blue Ridge for giving District 12, and the first arena, its dreamy, and sometimes terrifying, backdrop.

Shallow Hal

Charlotte is the priority filming location for this, “looks aren’t everything” classic comedy.

The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

Filmed at the same time as the movie A Walk to Remember in Wilmington, this girl-power chick flick is still a cult classic to this day!

The Green Mile

This famous movie of wrong, right, and those wrongly tried used several NC filming locations including the Blue Ridge Mountains.
