North Carolina-Azalea Festival-April 8

North Carolina People, Places, and Things-April 8

I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.

In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special.

North Carolina has lots of special events and festivals. One of the largest is underway this week. Since 1948 Wilmington, NC has been home to the Azalea Festival.

The Azalea Festival has been Wilmington, NC way to showcase its exceptional artwork, gardens, history and culture each year in April.

The event includes a headline concert, a 3-day riverfront street fair with arts & crafts, food, a spectacular parade, triathlon and more. Since its inception , the Festival has blossomed into an extended weekend celebration attracting more than 300,000 people to become the largest festival of its kind in the state.

This year headline concert features Snoop Dog.
