North Carolina People, Places, and Things-April 29
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special.
In North Carolina it is possible to get a special or vanity license plate. There are a lot of cars in North Carolina with these customized plates. In North Carolina a car only has a plate on the rear of the vehicle. Our standard private vehicle license plate looks like the one you see below:
The North Carolina annual plate fee is $36.00 but for an additional $30.00 a year you can personalize you plate. Lot’s of great examples.
In addition to vanity plates you might be surprised to know that North Carolina let’s you select from 188 special license plates. Included in that list is one for UNC Pembroke featuring their unique Braves Logo.
If you want to look at the entire selection of special plates available check out the link below.

If you take time to look at all the plates you will find 38 colleges including a number of out of state universities. Much to the dismay of some of my friends who are staunch Ohio State fans there plate is not available but Michigan is.
There are 43 special plate offerings related to the military. Even NASCAR has 22 choices. If you have a special interest for a special license plate you have 73 choices ranging from Alpha Kappa Alpha to Watermelon. There is even a plate for Piedmont Airlines.
At one time Piedmont had a prominent role in North Carolina but today there corporate headquarters is located in Salisbury, MD.
If you are driving in North Carolina pay attention to all the different plates you will probably see.
