North Carolina People, Places, and Things-May 7
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special.
There are only three counties in North Carolina that have a population of less than 10,000 and Graham County is one of those three. Graham County is the third least populated county in the state with just over 8,000 residents.
Map of Graham County outlined in red seen below:
Located in the far western edge of the State Graham County shares a border with the State of Tennessee. Two thirds of the county is located in Nantahala National Forest. The Appalachian Trail also winds thru the county.
The county seat is Robbinsville which is home to Ronnie Milsap. Ronnie was blind and attended Governor’s School for the Blind in Raleigh and recorded a number of hit songs including Smoky Mountain Rain.
