North Carolina People, Places, and Things-June 20
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special. Everyday this year I am doing a post on what I have learned new.
Saw a news segment over the weekend on Salvo, NC. Salvo is located on the Outer Banks and sits on the ribbon of sand between Nags Head and Buxton, NC.
The television piece that aired on WRAL-TV focused on the former US Post Office in Salvo and its former distinction as the smallest post office in the country. Salvo zip code is 27972 and their zip code also reads the same forward and in reverse. The post office closed in 1992.
