North Carolina People, Places, and Things-August 15
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special. Everyday this year I am doing a post on what I have learned new.
I have an extremely busy week so I am going to post a link to a fellow blogger on WordPress who does posts on unknown actresses of Hollywood. The bloggers name is Stela and she is a long time fan of classic movies with a special interest in classic actresses. The blog is a result of the writer spending months pouring over old newspapers and books.
If you want to talk about anything, or if you want to see a specific obscure actress on her blog she can be contacted at:
I happened to stumble on one of the posts about Cindy Garner who is from North Carolina. Cindy was born in High Point, NC in 1924 and died in Sanford, NC in 2002

In between her birth and death Cindy had a career as a Hollywood Actress including becoming a Goldwyn Girl. Not sure how many other native North Carolinians achieved that notoriety of becoming a Goldwyn Girl.
There were over 200 girls who formed the ranks of The Goldwyn Girls over the years they were in existence (from about 1930 until 1955). Over that period they appeared in eleven movies only. Several of these young hopefuls went on to big screen careers and one of them (Lucille Ball) became an icon of the fledgling television industry of the fifties.
