North Carolina People, Places, and Things-August 22
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special. Everyday this year I am doing a post on what I have learned new.
On Saturday my wife and I had to drive to Greenville, NC and East Carolina University to deliver a piece of furniture to our son’s off campus housing location. After the drop off we decided to go to lunch at Mellow Mushroom in Greenville, NC.
When we approached the front door we were greeted by an enormous metal sculpture of pirate that was at least 8 feet tall. For those that don’t know East Carolina University’s mascot is a pirate.
I got asking the manager who the artist was on the statue and he said so you like our Jack Sparrow statue. I really did not know who Jack Sparrow was. I asked again who the artist was and she replied I am not sure who did the Jack Sparrow. I went online to find out who the artist was and who is Jack Sparrow but I had no luck whatsoever on the artist.
If you read this post and know who the artist I would love to know.
I embarrassed that I did not know that Captain Jack Sparrow is a fictional character and the main protagonist in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. I have not seen any of the films.
What I did find was in North Carolina there is a Jack Sparrow impersonator.TJ Scronce is from Charlotte, NC and does impersonations. He pronounces his name TEE JAY SHRAWNS.
If you looking for a Pirate here is a link to your man. There are lots of way to earn a living in North Carolina including impersonating a character named Jack Sparrow.
