North Carolina People, Places, and Things-December 12
I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.
In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special. Everyday this year I am doing a post on what I have learned new.
In two weeks Christmas Day will be upon us. In Lumberton, NC where I live several years ago a neighborhood out on Rozier Church Road stopped doing a display of Christmas Lights. It was really well done but traffic caused the neighbors to end the tradition.
We can still go see light displays in neighboring Bladen County at LuMill Vinyards who has a Festival of Lights. LuMill shown below.
I found a website with lots of information about the best places in the state to go see Holiday Lights. The top destination appears to be McAdenville, NC.
McAdenville bills itself as Christmas Town USA is celebrating its 60th year in 2016 with magnificent decorations.
For a town with only 700 people, a short drive through the two miles is filled with millions of twinkling lights, decorated houses and buildings, and even Christmas tunes playing through speakers. Great info at website below:
McAdenville is easily the best destination in North Carolina to get both a ‘festival of lights’ and a festival of decorated houses. The complete list of other places including a private residence at 213 Valley Creek Drive Clayton, NC can be found below.
