My daily post theme for 2017 is on Colleges and Universities.
The plan for starting my blog back in 2014 was at the urging of fellow coaching colleagues to share posts on leadership and/or motivation. Somehow that idea got derailed and turned into daily posts on one theme for an entire year.
In 2014 my daily posts were on the “Beer of the Day”, 2015 it was “A Friend of a Friend”, 2016 I wrote about “North Carolina”, and for 2017 I will focus on “Colleges and Universities”.
I have been associated with colleges since I was 18 and I love them. I have coached/worked at four different universities and in my professional and personal travels visited 100’s more. Each college has something in its history that I want to share that to me make it unique or personal.

Name of University: Colorado Mesa University
Location: Grand Junction, CO
I have a good friend Dr. Ken Kitts who is the President at the University of North Alabama. He is very proud that his UNA Bass Fishing Club won the 2015 Cabela’s School of the Year title.
The current 2017 college bass rankings I saw online had Colorado Mesa University in the lead. I only have a vague knowledge of Colorado Mesa so I did some research.
Founded in 1925, the institution originally started as a junior college enrolling 39 students. In 1937, the school was renamed to Mesa College and began offering baccalaureate programs in 1974. The institution went through another renaming process in 1988 and became Mesa State College, reflecting its development and ongoing change. In 2011, the Board of Trustees and the State of Colorado officially renamed the institution Colorado Mesa University.
Today the enrollment is slightly under 10,000 and they compete athletically on the NCAA Division II level.
The most popular majors at Colorado Mesa University include: Business/Commerce, General, Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, Criminal Justice/Safety Studies, Kinesiology and Exercise Science and Biology/Biological Sciences,
