My daily post theme for 2017 is on Colleges and Universities.
The plan for starting my blog back in 2014 was at the urging of fellow coaching colleagues to share posts on leadership and/or motivation. Somehow that idea got derailed and turned into daily posts on one theme for an entire year.
In 2014 my daily posts were on the “Beer of the Day”, 2015 it was “A Friend of a Friend”, 2016 I wrote about “North Carolina”, and for 2017 I will focus on “Colleges and Universities”.
I have been associated with colleges since I was 18 and I love them. I have coached/worked at four different universities and in my professional and personal travels visited 100’s more. Each college has something in its history that I want to share that to me make it unique or personal.

Name of University: William Jewell College
Location: Liberty MO
I have never been to William Jewell College. When I worked at Winthrop University a good friend left our university communications department to go to William Jewell. With him there I followed WJC in the 1990’s athletically.
William Jewell College is a private, four-year liberal arts college of 1,100 undergraduate students located in Liberty, Missouri, United States. It was founded in 1849 by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and endowed with $10,000 by William Jewell.
William Jewell College was part of Civil War history. During that War, classes were suspended and Federal troops occupied campus, using Jewell Hall as a lookout point, an infirmary and a stable.
Today the college has about 1,100 students. The university is nicknamed the Cardinals and compete in 20 men’s and women’s sports at the NCAA Division II level in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Athletics plays a big part in the college experience at William Jewell.
