My daily post theme for 2017 is on Colleges and Universities.
The plan for starting my blog back in 2014 was at the urging of fellow coaching colleagues to share posts on leadership and/or motivation. Somehow that idea got derailed and turned into daily posts on one theme for an entire year.
In 2014 my daily posts were on the “Beer of the Day”, 2015 it was “A Friend of a Friend”, 2016 I wrote about “North Carolina”, and for 2017 I will focus on “Colleges and Universities”.
I have been associated with colleges since I was 18 and I love them. I have coached/worked at four different universities and in my professional and personal travels visited 100’s more. Each college has something in its history that I want to share that to me make it unique or personal.

Name of University: Colby-Sawyer College
Location: New London NH
Most research I have done in 2017 has led me to find a university getting started with the community building or presenting the new institution with its first structure. I have not seen it too often where the universities go gives that first building back to the town but that is the case in New London NH with Colby-Sawyer College.
Colby-Sawyer was founded in 1837 when a legislative charter was granted to eleven New London citizens for the purpose of establishing a school in the town. With the support of the town of New London a building was erected. This building remains today and serves as the New London town offices, having been gifted to the town by the college in 1999.
Colby-Sawyer College was founded as an academy in 1837 and has been engaged in higher education since 1928. Today it has an enrollment of about 1,100 students.
Colby-Sawyer College is a NCAA Division III member with their college athletic program.
