I started the Coach4aday blog in 2014 and have done daily posts on one topic for each year. In 2014 my daily posts were on the “Beer of the Day”, 2015 it was “A Friend of a Friend”, 2016 I wrote about “North Carolina”, and in 2017 it was “Colleges and Universities”.
The one consistent piece of feedback I have received with this blog is the 2015 series on “A Friend of a Friend”. Readers and blog followers said please bring it back. The stats also back that up with the number of views each of those posts received.
So in 2018 two things will happen with the Coach4aday blog; One I plan to collaborate with a friend named John Rancke and revisit some of those 2015 “A Friend of a Friend” posts and do some new ones with a slightly different twist. I write the posts on odd-numbered days each month and John handles the even-numbered days.
In addition John and I will write about things we both are interested which will include basketball, food, people, music, our granddaughters, and great stories.

Neat Stuff about Retirement
As I close in on my first month anniversary of being retired I am pretty excited about what I have done the first four weeks. I have traveled, spent time with my granddaughter, joined a fantasy baseball league for the 1st time, and been consistent with two promises I made to myself.
My first promise is get back to exercising on a daily basis. I have been religious in walking/jogging every morning. I even entered a 5K and finished 2nd in my age group.
The second promise was a new thing for me and that is to listen to a different musical artist each day. I usually accomplish this thru Spotify during my 30-45 minute walk/jog.
I am hoping by May it will be all run/jog and no walk. On March 20th during my 3 mile jaunt I choose the Spotify playlist called DISCOVER WEEKLY. The 3rd song was called “Little To Late” by Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers. Never heard of them but liked them.
So who is Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers?
California native Nicki Bluhm is a 38 year old singer, songwriter and performer. In 2008 she joined the Gramblers. The band became widely known after their “Van Sessions” videos, where the band performs cover songs in a van while driving between gigs, became a viral hit in March 2012. One of those cover songs was a “Hall and Oates Classic” I Can’t Go for That-that video has been viewed more than 3.5 million times. If you click below you will see why.
The song that I listened to on my run on March 20th caught me with some of the lyrics.
Little Too Late Lyrics that grabbed me was the lines about it’s a little too late to die young. As a new retiree I laughed.
If you want to listen a live version of the song Little Too Late here you go.
Hope you like them as much I do.
