I started the Coach4aday blog in 2014 and have done daily posts on one topic for each year. In 2014 my daily posts were on the “Beer of the Day”, 2015 it was “A Friend of a Friend”, 2016 I wrote about “North Carolina”, and in 2017 it was “Colleges and Universities”.
The one consistent piece of feedback I have received with this blog is the 2015 series on “A Friend of a Friend”. Readers and blog followers said please bring it back. The stats also back that up with the number of views each of those posts received.
So in 2018 two things will happen with the Coach4aday blog; One I plan to collaborate with a friend named John Rancke and revisit some of those 2015 “A Friend of a Friend” posts and do some new ones with a slightly different twist. I write the posts on odd-numbered days each month and John handles the even-numbered days.
In addition John and I will write about things we both are interested which will include basketball, food, people, music, our granddaughters, and great stories.

Post by John Rancke
Summer is approaching and if you want a quick way to get to Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach SC and wish to avoid Chadbourn, NC and the stretch of road from Chadbourn to Tabor City, NC try these 2 routes.
Go past the Dixie Drive In on NC 72 in Lumberton NC and cross the railroad tracks.
Turn left after RR tracks and take Old Whiteville Road through Burnt Islands and go through 2 stop signs. After 2nd stop sign go approximately 1 mile and turn right on Red Store Rd. Stay on Red Store Rd. to next stop sign and turn right on Peacock Rd. Go 100 yards and turn left on Peacock Rd (SR 1005). Cross over 74 and through stop sign at 74 business. Stay on Peacock Rd (1005) until you cross over Mollie Iron Hill Road and then SR 1006 at Ironhill and then a small stream called Iron Hill Branch. Just after crossing Iron Hill Branch bear left on Shug Norris Rd. . It comes up quickly and is a left turn at about 10:00 o’clock on the face of the clock. Follow Shug Norris Rd approx. 2 miles to 904. Left on 904 and go approx. 1 mile, cross new bridge and take immediate right on Dothan Rd. Follow Dothan Rd to Short Cut Rd (SR 144) breaks off to the right. Follow Short Cut Rd and turn right at church onto Camp swamp Rd. Follow Camp Swamp rd to highway 9 beside the old Black Bear Golf Course on Highway 9 west of Longs SC.
Take 74 East and cross over the Lumber River at Boardman, continue on 74 past the BP station to the new underpass with NC 242.
Bear right on NC 242 and follow 242 (Hayes Lennon road) to the water tower at Williams Crossroad. Small white building on the left. Turn left beside the building onto Princess Ann Rd. Stay on Princess Ann road and cross over Highway 76 between Cerro Gordo and Chadbourn. Road name changes to Grist Road. Go approximately 1 mile and turn left onto Rd 1414. Go 100 yards and turn right onto Old Stake Road. Stay on Old Stake Road until you enter Tabor City beside the old high school, cross through the stoplight and road becomes Pireway Drive. Go 1 mile and you run into the 701 bypass around Tabor City. Turn right and follow 701 to highway 9 and turn left onto 9.
