Ohio Christian University-Melvin Maxwell
If you are like me you probably never heard of Ohio Christian University (OCU). I stumbled across this university trying to research something I read in one of John Maxwell‘s book on leadership. He briefly mentioned his dad Melvin Maxwell was a college president. John Calvin Maxwell is an American author, speaker, and pastor who has written many books, primarily focusing on leadership.
Well it turns out his dad was at OCU but that wasn’t what it was called when it was founded. OCU was founded in 1948 as Circleville Bible College for the purpose of educating clergy for the Churches of Christ in Christian Union.
Melvin Maxwell was president at OCU for 16 years and below highlights some of his accolades.
As a president he was famous for walking on campus and listening to the student stories. He also had a reputation for lifting young people up. His son John does both of those things very well also.
There is a book about Melvin Maxwell

The library at OCU is named in honor of Melvin and his wife Laura.
When I read John Maxwell from this point on I will have perspective on where his leadership roots were nutured.
