1961 North Carolina and The Gap Band what do they have in common?
The Gap Band was a funk and soul group that was popular in the 1970’s and 80’s. The band consisted of brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson; and it was named after streets (Greenwood, Archer, and Pine) in the historic Greenwood neighborhood in the brothers’ hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
So what do the GAP BAND and Nahunta Swamp in North Carolina have in common?
Well the Gap Band had a hit song called “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and Nahunta Swamp in 1961 had two live atomic bombs dropped into its midst by the US Air Force.
I wrote all about this in a 2016 post about North Carolina. You want to read it go to link here.
