United Methodist Retirement Homes
On Monday I traveled with some great Lumberton NC leaders to Durham NC to play in a golf tournament to support The United Methodist Retirement Homes, Inc. (UMRH). That trip included me getting to spend a full day with David Walker Don Metzger and John Grissom. I learned a lot about life, Lumberton, and especially UMRH.
Photo below shows John Grissom chipping at Hillandale Golf Course under the watchful eye of Don Metzger and David Branch. We birdied the hole. John wanted me to also mention he won the longest drive contest on hole #10.
Don Metzger is a former Trustee of UMRH and John Grissom is currently serving in that role. David Walker is retired and a really big University of Georgia fan.
Living in Lumberton NC I was aware that UMHR had a facility called Wesley Pines. On Monday I learned they also had Croasdaile Village and Cypress Glen and the 3 facilities serve over 1,000 seniors across North Carolina. There is also Wesley Ridge which is in Lumberton NC. Wesley Ridge is a 24-unit one- and two-bedroom apartment community located adjacent to the Wesley Pines.
Croasdaile Village is located in Durham NC on a former dairy farm. Cypress Glen is located in Greenville NC on 95 acres.
United Methodist Retirement Homes (UMRH), a not-for-profit organization, was created in 1955. The Executive Director at Wesley Pines is Wade Rozier who is another fantastic leader. Wade’s wife Sonya is a fellow deacon with me at First Presbyterian Church who always is serving others.
