In coaching circles there is a term of endearment given to those that continuing coaching late in life. The phrase is “Lifer”. I know quite a few including Rick Walrond.
Rick has coached in college and today he spends time involved with the game doing camps all across the world. Below is a collage of some of his camp work and posing with hoop gods loke Kobe and Michael.
I was driving thru Rick’s hometown of Daytona FL in July on my return from Key West to North Carolina and caught up with this coaching lifer. We caught up on his family and his coaching travels.
A couple of weeks ago Rick sent me a pretty scientific video on how to practice effectively. It doesn’t just apply to basketball in fact its authors have an interest in musical performances. One tidbit in the video about the success rate between actual practice and mental imagery is quite interesting.
