Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
I attempt to write my posts in advance. I often will write two or three a day so I have a post in the bank if I don’t write one that day. I enjoy the feeling of control so if I choose not to write a new post one day I am not stressed out.
On Friday March 1st I was attempting to write a post for today-March 19th-I had no idea on what to write about. I realize I am not a great writer but maybe the trade-off is I always seem to come up with idea on what to write about. On Friday March 1st from 7:50 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. I had nothing I was literally staring at screen. I was experiencing writer’s block.
At 8:14 a.m. I received an email that distracted me from my lack of creativity and suddenly produced a range of emotions for me. It was from someone I had only met once but they were part of a post I recently wrote.
Reading the email evoked admiration and anger. It also made me thankful and appreciative. It showed me what class looked like. It also reminded me of what a bitch CANCER is.
The email was from Dr. Jay Coker and he thanked me for remembering him. He gave me an update on his career and then told me he was battling prostrate cancer. He was upbeat and optimistic. He bragged on the care he was receiving. Then he shared a prayer that he used with his dad eighteen years ago and now reads to himself.
CANCER has impacted my family in the past and is impacting it today. CANCER is impacting friends of mine. I am quite certain CANCER is impacting you directly or indirectly.
Jay’s email humbled me on what class looks like. Jay’s email inspired me on what a strong spiritual foundation is all about. Jay’s email cured me of my writer’s block.
I believe the power of prayer changes things. At a minimum it strengthens our relationship with GOD.
Here is the prayer about CANCER Jay shared with me. My resolution for Lent is not to give up anything but to add this prayer to my morning devotion. I do this in honor of all that are battling CANCER.
What Cancer Can’t Do
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot remove true joy.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot diminish kindness.
It cannot overcome faithfulness.
It cannot kill confidence.
It cannot shut out honor.
It cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the spirit.
It cannot erode the power of prayer.
It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.
There are people out there battling CANCER that CAN use our prayers but the prayer Jay shared with me is about what CANCER CANNOT do.
