Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
I joke that being retired means there are only two days in the week-Saturday and Sunday. Every day seems like Saturday to me except Sunday which has kept its same feel, rhythm, and routine.
This post will cause mixed emotions for a good friend named Donnie Douglas. I like to read newspapers and especially a Sunday paper. Donnie works for The Robesonian and they no longer print a Sunday paper.
Taking time to read a big Sunday paper from cover to cover can add a soothing effect to counter hectic work days. I have had a number of papers that I have read in my life depending on where I was living.
Unfortunately I believe that indulgence will slowly erode away over time thanks to technology.
The stories are about people and their Sundays. Here is one story for my basketball friends on Val Ackerman the current commissioner of the Big East Conference. She was the first president of the WNBA.
I doubt I will ever be asked to be the feature of Sunday Routine but if I was here are some of my favortite things to do:
- Walk to Church
- Receive a spiritual message
- Read the Sunday Paper
- Share a meal with the family often Sunday evening
- Cooking something on the grill-today I am smoking my first ever brisket
- Seeing my granddaughter
- Going for a walk or run
- Plan out my upcoming week which now includes six Saturday’s
- Eat a big breakfast which often includes bacon.
- From September to December watch NFL football and check fantasy team scores
- Get in the hot tub to close out the evening
Hope you have Sunday routines and enjoy them
