Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
One of my brothers is a very talented builder and carpenter. He like my dad knows how to use simple tools or machine to accomplish a task.
A simple machine is a device for doing work that has only one part. Simple machines redirect or change the size of forces, allowing people to do work with less muscle effort and greater speed, thus making their work easier.
I never realized that there were 6 simple machines.
- The Lever
- The Pulley
- Wheel and Axle
- The Inclined Plane
Each one of these can help you work smarter and faster.
I recently had to use a wedge to solve a simple carpentry problem of getting a window in an old storage barn to fit snuggle in place.
A wedge is an inclined plane that moves and is used to increase force—either to separate something or to hold things together.
There are wedges in our lives also. Unfortunately most are used to separate us from strong and meaningful relationships. Came across a blog post about Hidden Wedges that is on a website from members of the Bountiful, Utah, Mueller Park 5th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The post talks about the dangers of wedges in our lives.
When you read that post you will see words like grudge, reconcillation, and forgiveness. A wedge may be a simple machine but it is also a relationship killer. Don’t let simple wrongs cause complex issues in our lives.
Wedges not removed in relationships will drive us apart not only from others but from God.
