Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
About once a week I go searching for a new book to read. Yesterday I came across some articles by Dr. Martin Seligman who is equated with the field of “positive psychology”.
Dr. Seligman has written a book called Flourish that I have put on my Paperback Swap wish list.
To FLOURISH means you experience positive emotions and demonstrate positive social interactions.
In reviews of the book Flourish I found online it appears that the author uses an acronym PERMA to summarize his research on what it takes to FLOURISH. He believes five key elements contribute to our well being:
Positive emotion- happiness and life satisfaction
Engagement-think “flow” or when you’re fully engrossed in a task
Relationships that are positive
Meaning- belonging to and serving something that you believe is bigger than yourself
Accomplishment pursued for its own sake
Looking forward to reading the book and continue my personal journey to FLOURISH.
