Over the last decade America’s economy has seen the workforce increase over 5%. There are many sectors to this country’s workforce. The growth in jobs has not been uniform across each sector. In fact there are many job categories that are in a big decline. If you live in my part of the world you know textiles and manufacturing have been impacted. For example in 2008 there were 229 apparel knit textile mills in the country. In 2017 that number was down to 139.
The decline can be attributed to many factors including automation and technology. Some of it the way our country addresses certain problems. We no longer go to the phone book for example to look up a number we do it on our phone.
Today a phone directory is classified as waste in some communities. Changes to various industries has forced certain industries such as publishing to adapt.
Happiness in decline in America according to the 2017 World Happiness Report
Many experts believe that in America our happiness score is not because of economics but because of a social crisis. For decades American’s have somewhat related happiness to material things; a car, a house, and a vacation each year.
To prevent the decline of happiness I believe you need to pursue activities that help you become the ideal you. Each one of us is going to have different activities that will help us become what our ideal life is. Find your happiness activities and if possible add them to your daily routine.
