I have lived in 20 unique places in my life. Only five of the twenty had a backyard.
The house I live in now has a big backyard with mature pecan trees. My backyard depicted below.
Today we are going to use our backyard as we host our 4th Annual Beer Snob Pig Picking. You can read about last year’s event here.
Backyards have brought me and my family many memories over the years. One example are friends named Tony and Tina that used to live a few blocks from us in Lumberton, NC. When they lived in town a visit to their backyard would transport me to a different place. Tina and Tony knew how to transform outdoor space.
I have spent great afternoons in various backyards grilling out, swimming, playing bocce, badminton, or corn hole. I have had great evenings in backyards doing an oyster roast or gathered around a firepit.
I have drank summer cocktails with neighborhood friends in a backyard. I have sat in the shade and read a book.
I have deep fried 100’s of turkeys for family & friends on Thanksgiving morning over the past 20 years in my backyard.
Most recently I have satisfied my granddaughter strong desire to be outside by watching her running around in our backyard.
A backyard is a wonderful place. Excited I get to share mine with family and friends today.
