Bonnie

I know a few Bonnie’s in my life. I find each of them to be very compassionate to others.

Here are two I know Bonnie Biggs and Bonnie Reedy.

Two weeks ago I had to travel to New Jersey to attend the funeral of my 99 year old aunt and godmother. Her name was Dorothy Lynch D”Epagnier.

I drove the 580 miles from North Carolina to NJ on a Monday. After the funeral and graveside service on Tuesday I drove the 580 miles back home. That meant in less than 48 hours I spent almost half of it in the car. I listened to a lot of Spotify.

Bonnie Spotify

On the way home I listened to a pretty long Spotify playlist of songs by Bonnie Raitt.

I was reflecting on the life of purpose that my Aunt Dot had lived and a song came up that resonated with me. The song was titled “Nick of Time”. My post today is on the lyrics in the middle of the song.

I see my folks, they’re getting old
And I watch their bodies change
I know they see the same in me
And it makes us both feel strange
No matter how you tell yourself
It’s what we all go through
Those eyes are pretty hard to take
When they’re staring’ back at you

Scared to run out of time

When did the choices get so hard?
With so much more at stake
Life gets mighty precious
When there’s less of it to waste

Scared to run out of time

The advice is spot on, life is precious when you realize you don’t have much to waste.

For my Aunt Dot she didn’t waste her life because it was filled with purpose. The purpose of being compassionate to others she encountered.

My Aunt was like Bonnie Biggs, Bonnie Reeedy, and Bonnie Raitt they all “scared to run out of time” so they do good now instead of waiting. Thanks to each Bonnie for the reminder.
