My wife and I did lots of walking up and down Las Vegas Blvd on our recent trip to Las Vegas.
In fact in those five days our IPhones said we covered 35 miles. As we walked we observed the city attracts people from all over the world. There were 42.12 million visitors to Las Vegas in 2018.
All those people being tourists makes for crowded sidewalks, hotel lobbies, and street crossings.
As we walked a common occurrence was to see people DRIFT as they moved along. I will grant you that a few of the people were going off course because of being inebriated but not the majority.
It seemed many of the people touring Las Vegas became distracted. Those multiple distractions caused them to slow down or DRIFT off course. It almost became comical as my wife and attempted to walk a straight line. The reason was a constant barrage of people unaware that they were drifting into our path.
The distractions included the neon signs, the street performers in costumes who wanted to take a photo with you, and anything else that impacted your sense of vision, hearing, or smell. People could not walk without a DRIFT.
For many people I am quite sure that the DRIFT either delayed their arrival or took them away from their intended destination all together. It is very similar to our daily lives and our goals. We will constantly be tempted or distracted which can cause a DRIFT.
The secret for my wife and I was to hold hands and talk about where we were going. Sometimes the secret in life is to have a partner that you can talk to when you begin to DRIFT off course.
