Dreams
Last Sunday night I had some lucid DREAMS about all types of responsibilites I apparently had coming up on Monday.
The responsibilities all tied back to stuff I had to do 30 years ago. Leaving for a long recruiting trip, making phone calls to recruits, and volunteering activities were all part of my Sunday night of tossing and turning. I woke up truly believing I had failed but quickly became relieved because none of those obligations existed.
I have not had a DREAM like that since I retired.
I found a bunch of articles on dreams and wondered if mine was a common one. One article listed the top 9 DREAM themes. Falling, being naked, and being chased were things I expected to find and I did. The article also included interpretations.
My dream about past job responsibilities was not included.
I like to think that DREAMS to some extent represent some of the fears we have in life. Over the past week I am making some changes to my life. I have recently begun to actively pursue opportunites to speak with others on leadership.
I registered my business (Coach4day LLC) with the State of NC. Created a new website and ordered business cards. My prioritized daily task list doesn’t just center around prayer, playing golf, and doting on my granddaughter. I have added some new daily responsibilities by choice. Added to my list as freshly minted consultant is soliciting, preparing, and creating presentations. The additional daily tasks are required if my DREAM to help others grow thru leadership habits and training is going to become a reality.
Last week when I reflected on my DREAM I realized that each component contained fear. I believe the fear is a result of change. My choice to start a business had resulted in changes to my comfort zone. Like most people I have a default setting of not easily embracing change. To grow you have to override that that setting.
So as I move forward with my new business adventure if part of that metamorphosis is an occasional lucid DREAM I welcome it.
