Came across an article about the things Millennials are not buying
One item had to do with LAUNDRY. They apparently don’t believe in fabric softener so it is not flying off the shelves in grocery stores.
We have made lots of progress in our society but doing LAUNDRY is still something most of face.
Growing up as a kid in Northern NJ my dad who worked for the telephone company apparently did my mom a big favor by installing a telephone pole he scored for free about 50 feet from our elevated back porch. My mom had a clothes line-what a gift.
I still remember we had clothes-pegs to hang up on the line. I have not seen one of those in 40 years.
In our house Monday was washday and it might take my mom the whole day, depending on the how nice it was outside for her clothes to dry. After the clothes were dry there was ironing, folding, and putting the clothes up. Monday supper usually was leftovers from Sunday.
When my mom got a gas dryer her life changed.
She also placed my dads pants in a metal hanger that stretched his work pants and put a crease in them.
So maybe Millennials are not buying softener but there parents didn’t install clothes lines, had clothes-pegs, and metal hangers for slacks. We still have to do LAUNDRY but I am glad machines do most of the work today.
