There was a TV show that came on ABC from 1963 to 1967 called the FUGUTIVE starring David Janssen as Dr. Richard Kimble. The last episode aired 52 years ago today.
The premise of the show was that Dr. Kimble was convicted of killing his wife and he was innocent. Before discovering his wife dead he saw a one armed man running out of his home. The jury didn’t believe him. On the way to prison the train he was riding derailed and he escaped and was on the run. He was hunted down as a FUGITIVE.
Here is a YouTube clip of the opening of the first episode of the show.
Dr. Kimble each week was fleeing from his captors led by Lt.. Phillip Gerard. It wasn’t until the final episode on August 29, 1967 that Richard Kimble was exonerated and stopped running.
Richard Kimble is not the only person who spends time as a FUGITIVE. Many people live their lives suffering from guilt, low-self esteem, and condemnation. They run to something superfical to feel better.
For some life as a FUGITIVE means long work hours to escape. Others on the run go thru one broken relationship after another. Addiction has many forms and all affected are FUGITIVES.
In the end of the TV Show Richard Kimble stopped running when the truth about who really murdered his wife became clear to Lt. Gerard. Every FUGITIVE eventually needs to rest.
The best resting spot and an end to being a FUGITIVE is thru a relationship with GOD.
