Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
I just got thru reading a book I have heard about many times from my friend Mark Gogal.
The book is a true story of Fred Shea who was a US Post Office mail carrier in Denver Colorado.
He demonstrated a love for his job by caring about the people on his postal route. Mark Sanborn points out while many might see delivering the mail as monotonous drudgery, Fred saw an opportunity to make a DIFFERENCE in the lives of those on his route. He added value to his work and people loved it. Many of us might view our jobs as just that, a job. For a select few they realize it is not just a job but an opportunity.
Mark Sanborn dubbed what he saw his postman do as the Principles of The Fred Factor
The first principle was “Everyone makes a DIFFERENCE”.
The essence of this principle is that each person has to choose to be extraordinary. The great news is nobody can prevent you from choosing to be exceptional. I truly believe what the book says in the chapter on making a DIFFERENCE. The quote I love is this:
While position never determines performance, ultimately performance determines position in life. That is because position is based on results not intentions. It is about actually doing what others usually only talk about.

Making a DIFFERENCE adds value to the work you do.
