Sometimes a significant life change a person goes thru is better if it remains PRIVATE versus public.
Today is the one year anniversary of one of those PRIVATE moments for someone I care about. A year ago they experienced a low point in their life. To see this individual take on the challenge and make small daily changes to their life is the definition of a PRIVATE victory.
I have shared with them how I proud I am of the discipline that is being demonstrated daily. Battling the challenge required being committed to a series of important habits.
Before you can effectively lead and work with others, you must first learn to effectively manage yourself. Learning to manage yourself are called “PRIVATE Victories”. You achieve those winning moments by adopting habits.
To achieve PRIVATE wins there are 3 habits Covey says you have begin.
1. Be Proactive-deciding how you are going to respond to any challenge.
2. Begin with the end in mind-Project yourself into the future. You have to visualize what your life will become.
3. Prioritize-put first things first-Successful people do what unsuccessful people know but won’t do.
So one year later this person has begun to experience PRIVATE victories. They have become proactive, they have visualized them overcoming what they faced a year ago, and they have begun to take the most important things in their life up front.
Many people have dreams and goals to achieve great public victories. They cannot be sustained or even achieved if they aren’t built on a foundation of PRIVATE achievements.
