Two days ago I wrote about all the words and concepts that have become prevalent during the pandemic.
While standing in line at the Post Office yesterday I became annoyed with a customer acting incondite (30 Day Vocabulary Challenge). To get my mind off his behavior I pondered today’s post. The post for today is what I am MISSING during the pandemic.
Last Friday night for 30 minutes with extreme physical distancing my wife and I caught up with five close friends. The seven of us in that half hour shared all types of events that were occurring in our lives. It became apparent that each of us had been MISSING out on things in each others lives.
Some of it was funny. Some of it was sad. All five friends had tested positive for COVID in the past month. All had a different reaction. Some became fatigued easily, some had aches, there was loss of smell & taste by most, and the dry cough. For the record each has tested negative two weeks ago after their positive test.
In that short time span together I got caught up on what I had been MISSING. I heard about college students navigating a constantly changing pandemic world, the birth of new grandchildren, engagements, new jobs, and unfortunately decisions to postpone events we had traditional done together.
I realized how much I MISSED the laughter when my group of friends get together. How small things turn in to big laughs. During our time together one friend that a unreported side effect of COVID might losing your sense of fashion. During our time together he looked down at his shoes and gave us the laugh of the night. He had been wearing different brown shoes the entire day.
When 2020 is over there is much I will MISS.
Despite the long list of what I am MISSING I still believe I am blessed.
