State Parks
My brother who lives in New Jersey is spending two weeks on the Outer Banks of NC. He does this almost on an annual basis with his family. On past visits I have encouraged him to visit one of North Carolina’s nicest state parks Jockey’s Ridge State Park
North Carolina is blessed with great state parks and one of my former UNC Pembroke co-workers Justin Smith visited all of them in 2017
Photo below is of Justin’s family at Mount Mitchell State Park during his 2017 visit. This was one his stops at each of North Carolina’s State Parks.
In 2016 I wrote a post on how North Carolina State Parks got their start.
I subscribe to Money Magazine and they recently did an article on State Parks all across the US as a possible family value vacation.
I attempt to tell ever newcomer to the State of NC that you need to experience two things-one is the Outer Banks and the second is take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sometimes people forget that nature is not too far away if they just rely on parks in the area.
One of my morning golfing partners loves to drive the 1hr and 15 minutes from Lumberton NC to Cheraw SC to play golf at South Carolina’s Cheraw State Park. If you do your homework you can find vacation and recreation options on the cheap with parks.
