Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.
MAYBE, just MAYBE you will offer up a comment on today’s post. MAYBE you will tell me what the story’s message is. MAYBE it will resonate with you.
Here is the story.
There is an ancient philosophy or religion called Tao. It is rooted in customs and global views of the world. It has become a little more mainstream because of the martial arts. Here is a Taosist story.
An old farmer who had worked his crops for many years had his only horse run away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit and told him it was terrible about his misfortune. The farmer responded “MAYBE”.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed. “MAYBE” replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. The farmers response was just “MAYBE”.
The day after his son fall, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. “MAYBE the farmer said.
That is the end of the story? MAYBE you can offer up a lesson learned. If so leave me a comment.
