Opposite
One of my favorite episodes of Seinfeld is when George decides to do the complete OPPOSITE of everything he has done in the past.
He comes back from a day at the beach where he had been reflecting on his life. He then joins Elaine and Jerry at the coffee shop and reveals that every decision he has ever made has been wrong.
Here is snippet of that scene
Even though we laugh at George Constanza he really was on to what it takes to grow as a person. He decided that he wasn’t going to regret his life anymore.
When he decided to try the OPPOSITE, everything started going his way and he meets an attractive woman, receives a job offer with the New York Yankees, and finds an apartment that allows him to finally move out of his parent’s house.
The irony of this episode is everything Elaine chooses to do turns out wrong. She believes she is turning into the old George. Jerry has the attitude that everything evens out. So George’s good fortune and Elaine’s bad fulfill his paradigm of everything evens out.
When we approach life with an attitude that we are going to change by doing the OPPOSITE of past choices something happens. Just like George Constanza you will create confidence, freedom and a ease of living. Just not sure you will get hired by the NY Yankees.
Sometimes doing the OPPOSITE is how you make the most of the precious time you are given.
