Each year the blog takes on a different focus. In 2019 the goal is for each post to bring you the reader a lesson, quote, message, or story that can help you grow.

On October 2nd I made a decision to take on a 30 day challenge. It had nothing to do with my diet or exercise routine. It involved testing my OUTLOOK on life.

The challenge was to daily find something that made me smile. I attempted this to grow my gratitude levels.

So here are some of the things I saw, heard, or experienced that made me smile. It also demonstrated to me that our world is still filled with compassionate and caring people.

  • At Aldi’s Grocery store an elderly woman was struggling to find .25 in her purse to unlock a shopping cart. A woman with 2 small children in tow gave her the quarter.
  • Traveling thru a Lumberton NC neighborhood I saw two men each a different race leaning across a fence that separated their backyards. They were having a conversation.
  • I witnessed a squirrel escape an attack from a cat in my backyard. The squirrel’s zigging and zagging ability as he made his escape was better than anything I have seen on a football field all season long.
  • I have witnessed some amazing sunrises and sunsets that surpass any painting.
  • I got to witness two of my four sons getting married. To see them happy made me smile. To see my wife smile made me smile
  • Reading that a 4 time cancer survivor got to play in a football game for the University of Minnesota
  • Tyler Bazzle a non-verbal cerebral palsy high school student had a once in a lifetime experience at South View HS
  • Spending a day with my granddaughter at a playground and museum
  • In the past 30 days I have seen my group of friends support one another in times of joy and sorrow.
  • Winning for once in Fantasy Football
  • Walking into church and witnessing the sun shining thru the stained glass windows
  • Seeing a mom teach her 5 year old how to ride a bike
  • Breaking 80 on the golf course two days in a row a first for me.
  • Catching up with a colleague who battled thru cancer and the treatments and has returned back to work healthy.
  • Receiving a hand written thank you note.

It is amazing what we see when are OUTLOOK changes. It is astonishing how new blessings come into our lives when our OULOOK on life focuses on what we already have.
