Admire
Another way to describe the word ADMIRE is to emulate.
Last night my wife and I got host eleven other couples that we really ADMIRE. It was our annual Valentine’s Day Dinner. The menu involves seven courses each paired with a wine.
The dinner works with each couple assigned responsibility for a portion of the menu. They do the preparing, serving, and clearing the table for each course.
You learn a lot when you have people share in completing a project. I ADMIRE that each couple last night demonstrates what servant leadership looks like. They truly cared more about serving others than being served a great meal. There was nothing on the menu that was store bought. Each course involved sacrificing time to prepare something wonderful.
Back in the fall I came across an article titled “30 Tips to Help You Live Long, Be Happy, and Have Financial Success” it was written by Michelle Crouch.
There was one word in this article that resonated with me. The word was emulate which is another way to say ADMIRE.
I have touched on this concept before. We have a tendency to take on the habits and characteristics of the people we associate with. So the choice of who to spend time with is very important.
Research proves the following if you want to fix your bad habits, make sure your inner circle includes people you want to emulate or ADMIRE. That group will become a circle of influence for change.
I am blessed that I have many people in that circle that give me their time. A good number of those people were at the dinner last night.
Time spent with them includes observation on what leadership looks like. It is time spent being taught how to grow spiritually and mentally. I see how they live and it provides me the fuel to grow and if necessary change.
Time spent with people I ADMIRE is gift.
