Pebble
The world is dealing with many large problems. You could draw the analogy that those issues are gigantic boulders all piled up together in one place. The location of the pile makes it difficult to proceed on our chosen path.
The problems we encounter in life are sometimes are a big pile of boulders. That collection makes the path difficult to navigate. We either go over, go around, move them out of the way, or give up.
Yesterday I didn’t have to take on a large pile of rocks. I had to deal with one single PEBBLE. Not an entire collection of PEBBBLES just one small stone lodged in my shoe.
Yet it bugged the heck out of me. I had one small PEBBLE in my shoe on a long hike. I had to either deal with it or suffer the entire 5 miles and probably for days after.
I wasn’t planning on stopping because I was timing myself but I stopped. I stopped to deal with a PEBBLE in my shoe it was a minor aggravation that prevented a major one.
Also last week I choose to have a conversation I didn’t want to have. I had to lean in as Brene Brown says and confront the issue that was concerning me. I could have chosen to go around that conversation but it wasn’t going to help me grow. I was tempted to use the pandemic as an excuse to put off bringing the subject up now but I didn’t.
A journey attempting to navigate over a mountain can be sabotaged by the small issues. COVID 19 has lots of large boulders we all have to deal with but we need to address those small PEBBLES in our lives also.
