North Carolina-Sunken Ships-April 11

North Carolina People, Places, and Things-April 11

I am the dad to five adult children. As they were growing up I attempted to remind them they were special and to implore them to learn something new. My goal was to do that daily.

In 2016 my goal is to learn something new daily on the people, places, and things that make North Carolina special.

I saw a documentary on WWII that talked about German U2 submarines that sank numerous ships off North Carolina coast during early part of WW II.

A complete list of those shipwrecks can be found at link below. Included in the list are a number of German U2 submarines that were also sunk off North Carolina coast. All of those subs were sunk in 1942.

One of the ships on the list was the USS Monitor. It has been partially salvaged.
