Academic Booster Club Lumberton High School

Today is the first day of classes for the Public Schools of Robeson County

I was in college coaching and administration for most of my professional life. Booster Clubs are important to the success of any college athletic program. I am proud to support the UNC Pembroke Braves Club.

Athletic booster clubs are not the only kinds of organizations that seek contributions to enhance the experience of participants. At least one of the high schools in Robeson County has an Academic Booster Club. In 1998 Lumberton High School created the Academic Booster Club

All five of our children attended Lumberton HS and all five were accepted to a UNC university. Four of five have graduated and hopefully by May 2019 the last one will finish at East Carolina University in four years. I believe with strong parental involvement (mostly from my wife) and the teachers our children were prepared academically to go to college. That is something worth supporting.

To celebrate their 20th Anniversary the Academic Booster Club plan to award a scholarship to honor a former student by the name of Patrick Pait. I wrote about him on June 5th after he died in a car accident.

That is not all the Academic Booster Club does. They validate that academic performance is a priority in our community. They also do the following:

  • Purchased Honor Cords for graduating seniors
  • Awarded Academic Letters to all students earning a GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Awarded Academic Certificates to all students earning a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49
  • Sponsored the Science Olympiad and Debate Teams
  • Provided Quarterly Newsletters
  • Provided classroom materials
  • Provided scholarships for students attending special programs

You can join for as low as $25 receiving a free tee shirt and admission to the 10/5 home football game versus 71st!!

If you live in Lumberton NC or attended in the past consider supporting the Academic Booster Club.
